2019 Falcon Cam Season Concludes Without a Nest

  • July 31st, 2019

Today is the last day of our 2019 Falcon Cam season. Thank you for following our livestream and the ups and downs of this new, young pair. We look forward to the 2020 season and hope that this pair will make a return to the nest box; this time with nesting success! Tune back in next March to see what happens.

The new male, at the Riverfront Plaza nest box. Observed on March 2, 2019.

The new male (right) seen in a head bow courtship display with the unbanded, very buffy female (left). This was his first attempted pairing of 2019. Observed on March 5, 2019.

The second female that the new male paired with this year, a second-year bird, still in her juvenile plumage. Observed at the Riverfront Plaza nest box on April 8, 2019.

The new male and new female engaged in a head bow courtship display inside the nest box at the Riverfront Plaza building. Observed on June 6, 2019.

The new female (left) and new male (right) observed on June 6, 2019; still without a nest. Unfortunately, the pair never nested this season, that we know of. The lack of a nest this season was most likely due to the falcons’ young ages.
