Liberty Lake

Liberty Lake is a 1.5-acre lake located within the Town of Bedford in the Liberty Lake Park complex. There is a handicap-access fishing pier and parking. The fish populations consists of largemouth bass and sunfish, dominated by bluegill, but redbreast sunfish are also available in much lower numbers. Fish populations are governed by statewide regulations. Additionally, trout are stocked from October 1 through June 15 as part of the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources stocked trout fishing program.

From October 1 through June 15, Liberty Lake is a designated as stocked trout water. This put-and-take stocked trout water provides opportunities for anglers to catch stocked rainbow, brown and brook trout. Liberty Lake is classified as “Category A Stocked Trout Waters” and it is stocked with trout eight times from October 1 through June 15. To fish this lake during the stocked period requires a stocked trout license during the stocking season mentioned above in addition to a state freshwater fishing license. Designated stocked trout signs are posted around the lake.
