Description

Within the park, a short, forested trail along a steep-sided ravine supplies the best wildlife viewing opportunities. The upland forests along this trail are known to harbor seven species of woodpeckers, several kinds of flycatchers and vireos, and barred owls. The trail provides access to a powerline cut where the extensive shrubby habitat attracts songbirds like indigo bunting, American goldfinch, and a variety of sparrows. The powerline clearing is also a great spot to find hundreds of dragonflies and butterflies.

Notes:

For those who wish to avoid the steep trail, there is an alternate access point which is within walking distance from th eparking lot. Turn right onto Vawter Avenue and at the end of the road, to the right, there is a trail head that also leads to the power cut

Turn onto SR 197/Laburnum Avenue, travel 2.2 miles, and turn left onto Vawter Avenue. Proceed 0.7 miles to the entrance to the park on the right. Follow signs to Glen Lea, wooded trail begins at far left side of parking lot.
