The North Fork of the Thornton River is located within the boundaries of the Shenandoah National Park near the town of Sperryville. This stream is one of many native brook trout streams located within the park that offers excellent trout habitat.
Maps & Directions
Access to the lower section of the NF Thornton River can be gained by turning west onto Rt. 612 off of Rt. 522/211 just north of Sperryville. Parking is very limited. Please be courteous of the landowners adjacent to the park boundary when accessing this stream.
Fishing
The North Fork Thornton River within the Shenandoah National Park is open to fishing with single point hook artificial lures only. Six trout per day may be harvested with a 9 inch minimum size limit.
This stream has an excellent brook trout population, with most adult fish 6 inch to 9 inch in length.
