  • Migration
Hundreds of species of birds migrate through or to Virginia each year. The Department has placed satellite transmitters on several species of birds in order to learn more about their migration patterns. Although the transmitters are no longer transmitting data and have fallen off the birds, the information returned from these transmitters is valuable in managing both winter and summer habitats for these species. Individuals and flocks of birds follow similar routes every spring and fall. Check out migration information for the Peregrine Falcon and Golden Eagle.
