Fourth Egg
A fourth egg was laid sometime in the early morning hours of Friday, April 10th. The female was observed sitting on 3 eggs at 11 pm on April 9th, and 4 eggs were first visible at 6:33 am this morning as she briefly stood and changed position. Although peregrine falcons may lay up to 5 eggs, the average clutch size for the birds here in Virginia is 4, and this will likely be the last egg to be produced. Should one more egg be laid, we would expect it to happen on April 12th or 13th … will the birds surprise us with an Easter egg?
