Update on the Falcon Chick (6/26)
The Richmond peregrine falcon chick has been evaluated by staff at the Wildlife Center of Virginia (WCV) and judged to be in good health. A physical evaluation was conducted on the chick which did not reveal any signs of injury or illness. Radiographs and blood work analyses were also performed, neither of which detected any evidence of broken bones or internal trauma. The chick’s flight capabilities were evaluated by a WCV veterinarian on Wednesday, June 26th where it was noted that she needed additional flight conditioning before a safe release could occur. Staff will continue to work with the chick and evaluate her progress to ensure that her flight skills continue to improve and that she is a strong flier prior to her release. We will continue to post updates as we have them.
