DWR is Accepting Applications for the Elk Landowner License Program (ELLP) from Now Until July 1st

Richmond, VA — The Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is accepting applications for the Elk Landowner License Program (ELLP) from now until July 1st. The purpose of the ELLP is to partner with landowners within the Elk Management Zone (Buchanan, Dickenson and Wise Counties) to open access for hunting elk on private property while allowing enrolled landowners to earn a Special Elk Hunting License that can be utilized on their property.

Landowners must have 50 contiguous acres to enroll in the ELLP. For more information and to download the application, visit dwr.virginia.gov/wildlife/elk/hunting/elk-landowner-license-program/.

DWR is hosting the first managed elk hunt in the Virginia Elk Management Zone during October 8 – 14, 2022. For more information on the elk hunt, please visit dwr.virginia.gov/wildlife/elk/hunting/elk-lottery/.
