Protect Virginia’s Natural Resources, Residents, & Visitors—Become a DWR Conservation Police Officer
Richmond, VA — The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is now actively recruiting for the 15th Conservation Police Training Academy. Applications are being accepted through July 11.
On any given day, DWR Conservation Police Officers are outdoors enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth and protecting hunters, anglers, boaters, wildlife watchers, and anyone recreating across the state. No day is the same, but every day is eventful. If you have a passion for law enforcement, wildlife, fisheries, and supporting Virginia outdoorsmen and women, consider becoming a Conservation Police Officer.
- Starting pay is $54,106 with a 10% pay increase after completing the probationary period.
- The Department of Wildlife Resources has a comprehensive Career Progression Program for Conservation Police Officers.
- The 15th Conservation Police Training Academy is expected to start in February 2026 with graduation in late August or early September 2026.
