Public Comment Period on Proposed Regulation: Coyote and Furbearer Hunting Contests
A public comment period is open for the Board of Wildlife Resources’ proposed regulation to prohibit coyote and furbearer hunting contests in Virginia when such contests offer cash prizes or inducements of monetary value.
Interested individuals are encouraged to the review the proposed regulation and offer comments at: dwr.virginia.gov/regulations/2021-predator-hunting-contests/.
Comments on the proposal will be accepted through July 30, 2021, 11:59p.m.
While the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources’ online comment system is the most efficient and effective way to submit your views, individuals may also submit comments via email at [email protected] or mail comments directly to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, Attn: Policy Analyst and Regulatory Coordinator, P.O. Box 90778, Henrico, Virginia 23228. Comments must be in writing and accompanied by the name, address and telephone number of the party offering them. Comments submitted by means other than through this online comment system must be received no later than 4:00p.m., July 30, 2021.
Public comments on the proposed regulation will be presented at the August meeting of the Board’s Wildlife and Boat Committee (meeting date to be determined), and final action on the proposed regulation will take place during the August 19, 2021 meeting of the Board of Wildlife Resources. Interested individuals are encouraged to participate in these meetings and may offer additional comments directly to the Board at that time.
