Streambank Repair at Crooked Creek Fee Fishing Area
Richmond, VA — The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is in the process of repairing a section of streambank on the east fork of Crooked Creek located in the Crooked Creek Fee Fishing Area in Carroll County. The work area is located in the uppermost section of the fee area off of Apache Rd.
Due to the presence and use of heavy equipment, the trail beginning at the Apache Rd. parking area is closed. Trout that would have been stocked in the upper part of the fee area on April 24 will be stocked in the next section downstream, between the main bridge and the low water bridge. There may also be increased turbidity downstream of the restoration site.
The streambank failure occurred during recent heavy rains and needs to be repaired to prevent excessive sediment from entering the stream.
Work is expected to be completed by Friday, April 26, but is weather dependent. DWR apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause anglers. For questions regarding this work, please contact the Marion Regional Office at (276) 783 – 4860.
