Trophy Stocking Week Returns to Clinch Mountain and Crooked Creek Fee Fishing Areas
Richmond, VA — Several hundred trophy size Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout will be stocked by the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) hatchery staff at Clinch Mountain Fee Fishing Area in Washington County from June 12–17, and Crooked Creek Fee Fishing Area in Carroll County from June 19–24.
This year, stockings will occur after the end of legal fishing hours on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This will address difficulties in stocking due to traffic and will allow for better distribution of fish.
These fee areas are open to fishing from 5:00 AM until one hour after sunset. A daily permit ($8.00) is required of anglers in addition to a valid Virginia freshwater fishing license; however, children 12 and under may fish without a permit if they are accompanied by a permitted adult and their combined creel does not exceed 6 trout.
Don’t miss these great opportunities to fish for high quality trout!
