Virginia DWR Commences Its 2024 Freshwater Fisheries, Recreational Boating, and Nongame & Endangered Species Regulation Cycle
Richmond, VA — The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) has announced the commencement of its biennial process for revising the regulations governing recreational fishing, non-game wildlife management, and boating. The new regulations are set to take effect on January 1st, 2025.
The scoping period will run from January 11th, 2024 through February 25th, 2024. During this period, citizens will have the opportunity to propose potential regulatory changes directly to DWR. All submissions received will be thoroughly reviewed by DWR staff, summarized, and presented to the Wildlife and Boat Committee on March 20th. These presentations will take place at DWR’s headquarters located at 7870 Villa Park Drive, Henrico, Virginia. Additionally, a virtual meeting option will be made available to accommodate participants who are unable to attend in person.
The DWR encourages all interested parties to actively participate in this important process. By providing their input, citizens can help shape the future regulations that govern recreational fishing, non-game wildlife management, and boating in Virginia. This collaborative effort ensures that the voices of the public are heard and considered.
