Proposed Regulation

4VAC15-430-170. Watercraft: Safety Equipment Requirements. Hand-portable fire extinguishers and semiportable fire extinguishing systems.

Summary

Removes the regulatory burden on boaters to be responsible for handheld fire extinguishers to have a metal information plate affixed. Currently, such extinguishers are manufactured with proper information and specifications on them according to federal law but may not be in the now-dated form of a metal plate as per previous manufacturing technology. Additionally, as in changes made to section 150, this is a regulatory burden already given to manufacturers and should not be carried on to the end user. This results in a mandate reduction of one.
