4VAC15-430-210. Watercraft: Safety Equipment Requirements. Backfire flame control.
Summary
Backfire flame controls on a boat are a part of the design and manufacturing process of a boat and should not be a regulatory burden carried forward on the purchaser or end user. Thus, we are removing the state’s requirement to account for these mandates and defaulting to U.S. Coast Guard regulations that simply state vessels shall comply with backfire flame control regulations at the federal level. This results in a net mandate reduction of six mandates.
