Description
This urban park offers a paved, half-mile shared-use path that circumnavigates a mowed field surrounded by tidal marsh thickets and a wetland area. A boardwalk provides views of several ponds and a small salt marsh, providing an opportunity to see shorebirds during the migrations and overwintering waterfowl. Mulberry and wax myrtle trees around the perimeter provide forage for songbirds. Weed margins along the shared-use path provide habitat for many types of butterflies, including hordes of broad-winged skippers. Although the occasional military aircraft may disrupt listening for birdsong, this site is worth checking because it provides habitats that are likely to produce interesting songbirds and shorebirds.
