Description
This stretch of road, bordered largely by parkland, provides a number of parking areas and overlooks, where the still narrow Rappahannock River may be viewed. This mighty river stretches from rapids in the Shenandoah Mountain foothills to the Chesapeake Bay. Parks along the river include Falmouth Waterfront Park, John Lee Pratt Memorial Park, and Fredericksburg Battlefield. In summer, songbirds serenade from the shrubs, and winter brings an influx of bald eagles and waterfowl.
