Description
The Tobacco Heritage Trail from the La Crosse Trailhead to the Brodnax Trailhead is approximately 3.3 miles and provides a smooth easy walk along the old Norfolk and Western railroad bed. The trail traverse a variety of habitat types that provide an excellent opportunity to see warblers, vireos, nuthatches, and a host of other resident and migrants as they move through in the spring and fall. One of the more exciting features is the riparian and wetland habitats that are associated with Little Genito Creek. Keep an eye out for Great Blue and Green Herons, as well as Osprey, Bald Eagle, mallards, wood ducks, common yellow throat, and Prothonotary warblers.
